Intersections are places where roads meet, collisions happen, choices are made and paths merge and diverge. My work is about autobiographical intersections and the psychological space around navigating those connections.
This body of drawings originated from the study of the figure. At some point, the figure became abstracted and the idea of mapping emerged. The drawings use the contours of the body as a map.
Each piece of the mixed media series began with a map of a place where I have lived or visited. I tried to create a space that feels balanced but not symmetrical. Each layer is an exercise of letting go of some control and allowing the subconscious to direct the process.
